Welcome letter from the Principal

Dear students and guardians,

We are very happy to welcome you to IES Halmstad and we will do everything we can to ensure that the education is the best possible for our students.  For the 2013-14 school year, we will have around 400 students in grades 4-8.  We have finished the hiring of new staff (from Sweden and abroad), and all staff members are professional and have a passion for working with the IES values and ethos.  In addition to the teachers we also have employed a student care team (counselor, nurse, and special educator), librarian and administrative staff.  We feel that we have created the best conditions for a professional and high quality school for our students.

During the summer we have continued to prepare for the new school year.  In addition to much administrative work, a new swing set has been added to the playground, new furniture has been moved into the classrooms, study material and library books has been purchased, and more IT material has been installed.

The school year starts on Thursday, August 15.  Year 4 and 5 students and guardians  are welcome for “upprop” and an introduction from 8.20 to 10.00, and Year 6 to 8 students are welcome from 10.00 to 12.00.   A parent meeting is planned for Tuesday, August 27 for guardians of students in Years 4 and 5 at 18.00  and Wednesday, August 28 for guardians of students in Years 6-8 at 18.00. At these meetinags you will receive practical information, and will have the opportunity to meet the mentors, the management team and other staffmembers.

The school uses a web-based portal - SchoolSoft, for communication between the school and the families.  On SchoolSoft guardians can report their child’s absence, see lesson plans and homework, and look at their child’s results.  Login information, as well as instructions for use, will be given to guardians in August on the first day.

Lastly, we wish you a relaxing end of the summer and we look forward to working together with you.  Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

Best wishes,
Mr Tomas Andreasson, Principal

Mr Tomas Andreasson, rektor
